Why it's different

A separate TPA, a separate headache.

The old way

Hand it to a COBRA vendor.

A third-party administrator who needs the data re-sent.
A notice that goes out late, and a penalty if it does.
A member stuck without coverage waiting on reinstatement.
Another login, another bill, another thing to chase.
With Keel

Triggered, timed, reinstated.

The qualifying event fires the clock automatically, no re-keying.
The notice goes out well inside the window, certified.
Reinstatement posts the same day a payment clears.
One platform, one record, no separate COBRA vendor.
By the numbers

The clock never runs out on you.

Better together

It hears the event the moment it happens.

Continuation does not wait for someone to tell it. It runs off the same record as the rest of the suite.

Questions

The details.

What triggers a COBRA event?
A qualifying event in the census: a termination, a reduction in hours, and similar changes. Because the census already lives in Keel, the moment one is recorded the COBRA clock starts, the election notice is drafted, and the deadline is tracked. Nobody has to remember to kick it off.
How does same-day reinstatement work?
When a continuant's payment posts, coverage is reinstated the same day, with the record updated for the carrier and the plan. No multi-day lag while someone confirms a check, and no gap where a member shows up at a pharmacy and gets turned away.
Does it handle billing and grace periods?
Yes. Premium billing, payment tracking, and the statutory grace period are all handled, with reminders to the member and a clear status for you. If a payment lapses past grace, the change is reflected automatically.
What does this do for the broker?
COBRA is quiet, real liability for everyone in the chain. With one board across the book, every client's notices and deadlines are tracked and on time, so a missed COBRA notice is never the thing that comes back on you. It is risk you used to carry, gone.
