Keel/Compare/ALEX alternatives

Alternatives guide

ALEX alternatives, without the spin.

ALEX is two products now: the well-known counselor, and enrollment via ALEX Home. The right alternative depends on which one you're replacing. Closest like-for-like on claims-powered guidance: Nayya. AI-native enrollment a broker owns across a book: Keel.

Every claim sourced and checked, July 2026.

Which ALEX are you replacing?

If you're shopping against the counselor, the thing ALEX is famous for, your bar is personalized guidance employees actually trust. Keel's approach is guidance from the employee's own answers, transparent and auditable, delivered on every channel instead of one screen; the like-for-like claims-powered engine is Nayya.

If you're shopping against ALEX Home, the newer enrollment platform, you're choosing where elections live. Keel's answer is built for brokers: white-label it across the book, capture the election, and export the ben-admin bundle. ALEX Home's answer is employer-centric: one Jellyvision platform for guidance plus administration.

Either way, the honest note: ALEX has years of enterprise track record at decision support. Nobody on this list, Keel included, matches that specific maturity yet.

The alternatives

The real alternatives, and who each one fits

Keel

Enrollment-first, AI on every channel

A benefits platform where Amanda, the same intelligence, works over live video, phone, SMS, email, and chat, all year. Brokers white-label it across a book; it runs enrollment through compliance and produces the ben-admin export.

Best forBrokers and employers whose workforce isn't all at desks, and who want guidance woven through enrollment rather than in front of it.
Watch outRecommendations use the employee's own inputs, not claims data, by design; ALEX is more mature at pure decision support.

Nayya

The closest like-for-like on claims-powered guidance

A decision-support layer that connects employee data to 3B+ external data points, including 190M rows of claims, embedded inside a partner ben-admin such as Selerix BenSelect. Often carrier-subsidized.

Best forEmployers on a compatible admin who want the most data-rich recommendation and a low-to-no-cost distribution model.
Watch outRides inside the partner admin; core elections stay with that platform, and there is no standalone broker deployment.

Businessolver Sofia

AI assistant inside a ben-admin suite

Businessolver's AI assistant lives inside its Benefitsolver platform, answering employee questions within that ecosystem.

Best forEmployers already on, or evaluating, Businessolver's administration platform.
Watch outThe assistant comes with the platform decision; it isn't a standalone guidance layer.

HealthJoy Enrollment Decision Support

Announced, arriving fall 2026

HealthJoy is a year-round navigation and concierge app that announced enrollment decision support in May 2026, with general availability planned for fall 2026.

Best forEmployers who want navigation plus guidance in one app and can wait for the enrollment piece to ship.
Watch outThe enrollment decision-support product is announced, not shipping; evaluate on delivery, not the press release.

Your ben admin's built-ins

Sometimes enough

Most admin platforms show plans side by side with costs, and some add basic modeling. No conversation, no recommendation, but no extra vendor either.

Best forSmall groups with simple plan menus where a clear table genuinely covers the decision.
Watch outThe moment employees start asking which plan is right for me, a table stops being an answer.

FAQ

Common questions

Does ALEX still require a separate ben admin?
Not anymore. ALEX Home added enrollment, with elections flowing to carriers, payroll, and vendors. The enrollment layer is the newest part of the product.
Is Nayya or ALEX better for claims-based recommendations?
Both build recommendations on claims data, which neither Keel nor most built-ins do. They differ most in distribution: ALEX sells to employers and brokers directly, while Nayya typically arrives embedded in a partner admin, often carrier-subsidized.
Can Keel replace ALEX?
If the job is enrollment with guidance woven through, deployed by a broker across a book, yes, that is exactly Keel's shape. If the job is best-in-class standalone decision support with enterprise track record, ALEX is more mature at that specific job today.
Why does channel breadth matter for decision support?
Because advice only lands on employees who show up. An on-screen counselor reaches desk workers; a video, voice, SMS, email, and chat agent reaches the rest of the workforce too.

How we built this guide

We read Jellyvision's and each listed vendor's public pages, pricing, and reviews, and checked every claim in July 2026. We re-check quarterly. Two rules: we only count features Keel has shipped, and when another tool fits a job better, this page says so.
